Chickens
We have a small flock of hens who lay delicious eggs. They are fortified with the best commercial food plus enjoy free ranging around the yard to find insects, worms, and plants. The breeds include Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, Welsomers, and Buff Brahma, so the egg shells are a beautiful variety of green, brown, and pink colors.
Sheep
We plan to have small flock of sheep and practice managed grazing on our 3+ acres of pasture. Why sheep? Wisconsin was once the second-largest producer of sheep in the United States, with more than 1 million head. They are perfectly suited to our sloped pasture.
The Land
Improving 20 Mighty Acres
Flocksadaisy Farm is currently imagining how to best use animals to restore the environment.
On this 20-acre property, we want to improve the soil, waterways, grass pasture, and forest by introducing a small herd of sheep and expanding the small flock of chickens.
We want to provide animals with the space and food and water they need to thrive as individuals of their species.
To fund this initiative, we will sell eggs and meat directly to consumers.
We also want to share this special property with others and provide people with immersive experiences to appreciate the land, animals, and Wisconsin seasons to spark creativity and insights.
