Jumpy just joined the Flocksadaisy Farm chicken flock in January 2026, on a brutally cold day. She was very well loved by her young caretaker, but the girl and her family were moving to a new house, so we adopted Jumpy and two other hens from our neighbors.
We are not sure of her exact age but think she was born in 2025.
Jumpy has a slight handicap; her bill is mis-aligned. She was born that way and the situation in no way slows her down. Like all other Easter Egger breed chickens I have taken care of, she is very food motivated and loves to eat.

Jumpy is a very compact bird with short legs and wings. She sports lovely dark brown feathers outlined in black. She has black whiskers and her comb is very small. She is a cold-hardy breed and will do great in Wisconsin winters. Her eggs have light green shells.
She can be a bit shy with new people but she warms up quickly and will "present" herself for petting and can be easily picked up.
Her first family named her Jumpy because of her nervous qualities.
Jumpy is the only chicken in the flock so far to really take to our new feeder, which requires the hen to stand on a lever to open the lid to get at the food (to deter small birds and rodents).
She is a beautiful hen and we are so happy to have her as part of the flock!
